It's been a few months since this page was updated, and quite a lot has happened in that space of time. Principal filming on 'The Big MG' is almost at an end - we've got only a couple more sequences to get now before Mike's journey (hopefully) reaches a climax. Next it'll be on to the edit, and we'll have the final film done by, we think, the end of July. Then it'll just be the incredibly easy and simple case of getting it seen...
We are also working on a few more projects which we'll soon be looking to get funded. One in particular is at quite an advanced stage of preparation, with the script finished and the storyboard and general 'funding package' being put together as I type. Watch this space for more news.

'The Big MG' Progress Report
After several laborious months of preparation, filming for our short documentary 'The Big MG', about Deaf-Blind DJ wannabe Mike Gerwat, finally got underway just before Christmas. We've now shot two key sequences, and are preparing for the third, to be filmed in Wakefield a week on Saturday.
Mark (the director) seems pretty pleased with the way everything is coming together. It's taken rather longer than expected to get to this stage, especially since we received funding from Screen Yorkshire (http://www.screenyorkshire.co.uk) nearly six months ago. We're rapidly discovering that such delays are inevitable in low budget documentaries, especially if you want to make sure you get it 'right'. We've reviewed the rushes from the last two shoots and it seems that 'Mr. Cock-Up' has yet to pay us a visit, so hopefully the cautious start to everything was worth it.

Hamlyn Spyke Blog
Welcome to Hamlyn Spyke Productions' new blog page.
If it works out, this'll be where we post any news and developments from our various production/writing projects that we've got on the go, and our ever-increasing hordes of well-wishers and (inevitably) detractors will be able to keep up to date with our every move. If it doesn't work out, then this'll probably stay up for a few months then disappear like so many other abortive attempts at the postmodern phenomenon that is 'weblogging'.
Let's hope it's the former. We'll see how it goes...
